Serious Shopping

Thanksgiving week always puts me in the mood to get my holiday shopping underway. Where I differ from most people is that I hate being part of the black Friday crowd. Being part of a mob of people is not my idea of fun. Who wants to be in a pack of people who get so crazy over a sale that they have to be revived with an AED? I will be at home shopping from my computer in my pj's with a nice coffee in my hand.

Shopping

I went shopping at my favorite store, TJ Maxx, this morning and found a great case for my new laptop. It looks more like a purse than a case, which I like. I never thought I would be someone who carries around laptops, netbooks and cell phones but I am. I have to have a computer with me all the time so that I can catch writing assignments as they come in. Too bad I didn't find any Christmas gifts to buy!

A New Addition

We have a new addition to our family. Her name is Bella and she is a Bichon Frise puppy. She joined up about a week ago and we are all in love. This is my husband's first experience with a small dog. He was reluctant to adopt one but he has fallen under her spell. I've included a photo of her, there will probably be many more to come.

Family Reunion

My sister in law called me this weekend to say that she is putting together a family reunion. She wanted to know what kind of trip we would vote for. Oddly enough, even though we live at the beach we still enjoy beach vacations. Out of her suggestions I voted for a reunion at the myrtle beach vacation rentals where we have all stayed before. It is a completely different atmosphere from the Florida beaches we are used to and a fun place to go. Let's hope everyone else votes the same way.

We Got Lucky

It was a real relief to hear that Hurricane Ida was downgraded to a tropical storm this morning. It should be mainly a heavy rain event here with heavy rain. I can back off from getting the house prepared for a hurricane and go back to the rest of the things that I need to get done. I need to call my local geek about getting a laptop memory upgrade plus a million other things. How did I get so far behind?

This Late?

It was a real surprise to find out that there was a hurricane in the gulf heading our way. It is very rare to have a hurricane show up this late in the year. The only thing going for us is that it IS so late and the waters have cooled down. I've got my fingers crossed that it dies down before hitting the coast. Keep your fingers crossed.

The Lazy Blogger

I think I should have called this the lazy blog. I am so bad about maintenance and doing the things I should do to protect my computers. I realized this morning that as of last count I have 2 desktops, 2 laptops and a netbook. And not a single one is backed up. With the simplicity of free online backup I should be embarrassed to admit that. I've promised myself to get off my lazy you know what and back things up. There's no excuse...but I'd rather be cooking. :)

Kitchen Redo

We are seriously considering attempting a kitchen remodel. It's the one room we didn't remodel when we purchased the house 5 years ago. I guess you could say we ran out of steam.

I have been sketching ideas all week. I saw some beautiful ceramic tiles while I was out shopping this week and that's what motivated me. I pretty much have it all worked out. Now to find the funds to do it all!

Loving the Fall Weather

Today is one of those absolutely perfect fall days. The sky is crystal clear and the temp is around 60. Most of the trees are turning and the colors are glorious.

We took the dogs to the dog park and they ran and ran. It was so much fun watching them enjoy themselves. Now they are both sleeping next to my desk.

We have steaks to grill outside tonight and I have the ingredients for a wonderful salad. Life is good.
